Dr. Ivan Goncharenko’s journey is a distinguished blend of academic excellence and significant practical experience. He earned his higher education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and obtained a second degree from Lund University in Sweden, specializing in “Islam and the Middle East.” Ivan further advanced his academic credentials with a PhD in Middle Eastern Studies and a Master’s degree in International Law from the Sorbonne University.
Born in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, Ivan repatriated to Israel at the age of 13, a transition that instilled in him resilience and adaptability. After finishing school, he was drafted into the Israeli Defense Forces, where he served as a commander in the elite canine special unit “Oketz” (“Sting”). During his Reserve service, he also worked as a Big Data Analyst specializing in Arabic language in the Information Unit for Times of Crisis, Home Front Command, IDF.
